Olivier Giroud breaks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Champions League record after Chelsea's Victory over Sevilla
Following Chelsea's emphatic 4 - 0 victory last night over Spanish side Sevilla in the UEFA champions league, Olivier Giroud who scored all Four goals breaks and create a new record for himself to become the oldest player in the history of the UEFA champions league to score an Hat trick at 34years 63days after Cristiano Ronaldo's Hat trick at 34years 35days.
The French international forwarder, who started ahead of Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham, netted his first goal of the evening in the eighth minute, He then doubled his tally in the 54th minute before completing his hat-trick with 15 minutes remaining.
Giroud didn't only score an hat trick but a perfect one, with the Chelsea's forward scoring first with his left foot followed by his right foot and thirdly scoring an header, he then make it four goals from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute, and he made no mistake from 12 yards.
Giroud then becomes the oldest player to score a Champions League hat trick beating Cristiano Ronaldo who previously held the record.
He also became the oldest player to score an hat-trick in the European Cup since Ferenc Puskas back in 1965 and the first Chelsea player to score 4 goals in a game since Frank Lampard in March 2010.
Moreso Olivier Giroud also became the first player to score four goals in a single UEFA Champions League match since Ronaldo, who netted four while playing for Real Madrid against Malmo in December 2015.
