NYSC: FG Enrols Corp Members Into Compulsory Health Scheme

The Federal Government has approved the enrolment of members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in the National Health Insurance Scheme.

This was revealed today 9th November in a statement released by the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim


The Brigadier general started his statement by saluting and expressing gratitude towards the security agencies and other stakeholders for their support

Furthermore, he said the scheme has concluded arrangement with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) for the enrolment of corps members into the NHIS in line with a presidential directive. 

He then concluded his statement saying that they have also expended huge resources on critical health needs of corps members, including footing of medical bills

Lagos State Approves full Reopening of KG, Nursery, Primary and Secondary Schools

The Lagos State Government has approved October 19th for the full resumption of all remaining classes including Kindergarten classes in both public and private schools in the state. This was revealed in the statement released by the state Commissioner for Education on the 12th October, 2020.  The state commisioner for education, Folasade Adefisayo made it clear that physical resumption for the 2020/2021 academic session would include pupils in pre-primary classes particularly those in daycare, kindergarten, and nursery schools. She also said that the decision was taken after careful deliberations and consultations with relevant stakeholders including safety professionals and nursery school providers.  She urged school owners, principals and proprietors of private schools to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 safety protocols as earlier outlined by the Nigeria defense for disease control (NCDC). British-Nigerian boxer Anthony Joshua showed how much of a Yoruba boy he is when he met with President Muhammadu Buhari earlier on Saturday, January 18. The heavyweight world boxing champion was hosted by Buhari in London, UK, where the Nigerian president is presently visiting for government business. After shaking hands with the president, Joshua - who recently defeated Andy Ruiz to reclaim his belts - went down flat as a sign of respect. His action elicited laughter from all the government officials present at the meeting. The champ also made sure to present his belt to the president, who was more than elated to receive him. Strike: Students beg ASUU to call off 8month old Strike

Some university students on Thursday appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities to consider their future and resume to work in their various institutions. Some of the students, who spoke with the  News Agency of Nigeria  in Enugu, expressed worries and lamented as they appealed for the suspension of the prolonged strike. The students said they were tired and frustrated due to the time wasted without any academic achievement. They said the strike would make them remain in the university more than it was necessary. ASUU has been on strike since March 2020 over demands for more funding for public universities and renegotiation of the 2009 FG/ASUU agreement. Others are outstanding earned academic allowances, the proliferation of universities by state governments, and the constitution of Visitation Panels to Federal Universities.
